Jewel Cave National Monument

Visiting Jewel Cave can be an overwhelming experience. This is the fifth-longest cave in the world and the second-longest cave in the United States, spanning over 222 miles.

There is a range of tours available for those who want to explore the cave. There is a 30-minute presentation, a 1.5-hour guided tour, and a 4-hour-long tour known as The Wild Caving Tour. The longest tour takes you deep into the cave. You are guided down with a hard hat, headlamp, and rope for climbing, moving between cave walls, and crawling through tight passages.

The Rushmore Cave is the main attraction at Rush Mountain Adventure Park. There is a spectacular one-hour tour through part of the cave. The cave stretches 3,600 feet long, making it a great experience for young children.
